Altec Lansing Octiv 650

Pros: Great sound when it played. I miss it now that the music has stopped. We had a couple of events at our home and the sound was simply fantastic. Let's hope they resolve this issue. I'm waiting to see if they fix the problems, sounds that good.

Cons: This model has issues with Apple's newest software, IOS 5. A firmware update is needed in order for it to work. We don't have a date as of yet that this will be available, it may be a few wks to a month. Replacing the unit won't fix the issue.

Summary: Flawed logic from the Altec Lansing Customer Service as follows: "We have been made aware that some of our units are having issues with Apple's newest software, IOS 5. Our engineers are working with Apple to find a resolution to this problem, most likely will be in a form of a firmware update. We don't have a date as of yet that this will be available, it may be a few wks to a month. So replacing the unit most likely won't fix your issue. Would you like to wait for the resolution of the problem or would you like to be set up for a refund?"

How can only SOME of the units have this problem? Why is the company unable to replace it? I'm left wondering if it is a crap shoot buying this product? Hope not, because it has a great sound. Due to the problems I can only give this unit a three star rating. If it is fixed I will write an update review for this Model.
