"OK for outdoor shots...indoor stink" on by jimboscomp_com

Pros: 5x7 prints capability, vibrant colors for bright outdoor shots and great portability

Cons: Indoor and low medium lighting shots come out foggy. eats up ink quickly.

Summary: I thought I was upgrading to the best thing with this. I had used a Photosmart 245 before and gave that a 10/10 grade. This one eats up ink VERY quickly, even for brighter shots that shouldn't require much ink, it uses up one ink cartridge for every 60 photos, and the cartridge is $38 with tax. It comes out a bit pricy after a while, might as well just buy from places photo labs in stores. I do a lot of photography and comparing this printer to my HP 5550, this one is terrible for indoor shooting, the pictures come out foggy, even when they aren't foggy on the computer when editting them. My advice if you're looking for a compact printer, buy a Photosmart 245 or another brand, if you're on a budget, definately don't buy this, becaus eof its maintenance costs.

"Print quality inferior to Epson PictureMate Snap" on by Bizily

    Pros: See opinion.

    Cons: See opinion.

Summary: I purchased this printer after seeing the high editor rating here at CNet.com. A family member recently purchased the Epson PictureMate Snap, so we compared the two. We compared the quality of a print of the same photo from each printer side by side. The difference was amazing. The HP photo was foggy. Very unimpressive. The Epson photo was clear and vivid. We tried adjusting some of the picture settings on the HP, but no luck. It wasn't even close.

"An excellent portable printer but poor construction" on by krustykanuck

Pros: Very good quality photos without a photo editor softwre

Cons: A little slow to print quality pics, cheap plastics

Summary: The Photosmart 475 printer I own doesn't have the color issues or power problems that I have read elsewhere. The quality of the pictures I have printed are nearly identical to the photos I have taken and the multiple memory card interfaces came in handy. I would have preferred more editing options than what is available, but I realize this printer is designed to be low cost and easy to use. The small ink cartridge lasts through several photos and give amazing clarity for a three ink cartridge. Just don't be in a hurry if you have 100 pictures to print. It will likely take you a few hours to perform that feat. To get the quality of pictures you would want it could take about 3 minutes per picture to print. The only other drawback is the sloppy designed side doors that pop open for the paper feed in the back and the interfaces in the front. Feels cheap! Yet I get asked to bring this printer to several functions in case people want their pics printed right away. Now thats convenience!

"Definitely amateur quality product" on by jimsbabis

    Pros: Of course, the portability

Cons: Too red... even after changing the color properties

Summary: My birthday gift was the best... then I tried it out. I was sad to find that the coloring of the photos was not right. Everything looked too red. After changing the coloring in the properties, the photos still came out too red. For individuals not really looking to quality in their photos, this would work perfect. Otherwise, I'll stick to my Epson Stylus Photo R1800 and wait for a better portable printer.

The ideas behind this printer are great ones (remote, 5 x 7, slideshow, bluetooth). Too bad the actual print doesn't look good.
