"Inexpensive, but great performance" on by elrondelf

Pros: Great colors; fast response time; cheap

Cons: Annoying analog/digital popups; awful built-in speakers

Summary: I've been using this monitor for gaming for over a year now, and I have to say that it's the best I've ever had. The analog/digital popups are bothersome, but not unduly so. The included speakers are very tinny, and I never actually found a way to adjust their volume except for using the toolbar. Besides those problems, the colors are very lively, the response time is fast enough (8 ms) to never see any blurring, and, best of all, it's inexpensive.
    A good buy!

"Good bang for the buck" on by wildcat365

Pros: Excellent picture quality. Built in speakers .

Cons: Little bit thicker and bulker than some current LCDs

Summary: Purchased at Fry's in Palo Alto, CA for $229 after rebates. Picture quality is impressive. I thought the NEC's were almost plasma like, but they were close to $400. I actually haven't tried the speakers because I use 5.1, but for those trying to conserve on space will appreciate. There are thinner and sleeker flat-panels, but it's still very light and portable. I recommend.

"First LCD puchased and glad I chose it." on by SilenceofAzns

Pros: Fast refresh, integrated speakers, high brightness and contrast ratio.

Cons: Poor sound quality (expected), no dedicated volume conrol or headphone jack.

Summary: This is the first LCD that I have purchased. It is fairly inexpensive for a 17" LCD moniter, while carrying a three-year warrenty. I found one stuck pixel but no dead ones on mine. I think it is a very stylish black with 6 small silver buttons below the screen for funtions. It's excellent for gaming and media with a fast 8ms response time, high brighness, and good contrast ratio. Image quality is pretty good also. I think it is a good value for the budget hardcore gamer or media user.

"Enjoyed this monitor for over 11/2 years now" on by davy08

Pros: Love the large display & color it displays.
Doesn't hurt my eyes viewing it like the CRT's do.
No glare refllection what so ever.
Easy to understand settings on lower panel buttons.
    Love the internal speakers.

Cons: Annoying Pop up message "no signal" on powerup.
Screen finally went black with green on steady power to the power indicator.
    Don't know what happened.
Possibly cause I didn't install the software in Vista when first installed it or backlite issue?

Summary: Bought it used off Craigslist & had no problem's with it till now.
Will consider purchasing another for the other room.
    Really great product!
    Better than a Dell.
    Nothing lasts foreaver.

"Viewsonic - VA712b monitor (Bad Choice)" on by bj1

Pros: Good vibrant colors and pixilation

Cons: Very annoying Analog / Digital pop up messages

Summary: I have always loved viewsonic for its pixel clarity and performance and now have 3 of their monitors. The latest to the addition is the VA712b this is the most disappointing monitor I have ever seen produced by Viewsonic. Some brain power in the company decided it would be a good idea to inform their users which mode you are in “Analog or Digital”. Well it would be fine if this message didn’t pop up 6 times throughout the boot up screen while in “Analog” and 3 times while in “Digital”. That doesn’t cover how many times you will be annoyed to death seeing this message appear upon opening various desktop applications, then to see it again upon closing those applications. It is enough to drive you into the mental ward! If you own this monitor and cannot return it, take the time to call Viewsonic to file a complaint on this issue. No one should be stuck paying this type of money on such incompetent crap!
