"Great Plasma" on by ktmorin
Pros: Picture, Price, Sound, Looks,Connections.....
Cons: no cable card(but so what !), takes some initial set up tweaking to get that perfect picture.
Summary: I don't know why CNET gives this only a 6.2 rating. As you can see by the other members, this is one great TV in this price range. The picture is fantastic--check it out at your local stores and you can see the difference. The Samsung has great PQ that you'll see when you get it home! I did lots of homework, including using CNET's recommendations, but finally decided on this because of all it's features.Loads of A/V connections, good basic speakers, good price, and the HD cable broadcasts look fantastic. Colors are vivid, and crisp. I was not disappointed at all with this TV. Good luck!

"For the price, Best 50" plasma TV on the market" on by rdechellis
Pros: Clear picture, plenty of inputs and outputs, great sound through built-in speakers.
Cons: Picture is so sensitive that it needs adjusted everytime channel is changed to get best quality. I don't view this as much of a downside since it proves the quality of the picture components.
Summary: For the price, this is the best on the market. I checked out the infamous Panasonic and the picture on this beat it. I heard people mention the fact that this TV does not have a memory card input, but this feature has not been truly functional on any TV that does offer it. Right out of the box the TV looked great. Not only does the picture look great, but the stylish design adds to its allure. The built-in speakers have plenty of umph and sound clear as a bell. Also, unless you've never made any cable or stereo connections before in your life, the set up was as simple as could be. I recommend the Samsung HP-S5053 to anyone looking to buy a high quality, yet affordable, 50" plasma TV.

"Still pleased after three months" on by stevenflans
Pros: incredibly sharp picture, vibrant colors
Cons: fingerprint prone
Summary: I thought that I would buy the highly rated Panasonic 50", but when I saw this set on the wall next to all the others, the picture was equal or better to anything else. I haven't been disappointed. Everything looks great, and the HD programs look awesome. After three months I have no regrets. And since the screen is mounted on the wall, the fingerprint issue is hardly a problem.

"STUNNING PLASMA HDTV" on by easyshare
Pros: PQ- STYLE-FEATURES
Cons: NONE SO FAR
Summary: HDTV PQ IS FANTASTIC AND SD's ARE VERY GOOD. SET HAS 3 FEATURES BUILT IN TO AVOID BURN-IN AND IR. BUILT IN SOUND IS GOOD, BUT WE USE HT SO ITS NOT AN ISSUE. PIANO BLACK FRAMING IS REALLY CHIC. YOU HAVE TO HAVE THIS ONE.

After 7 months of ownership, I still give this TV an excellent rating. My wife wasnt too happy about the original cost but now admits it was the best investment we ever made. Pix is still absolutely stunning and have had zero problems. Called Samsung to see what to use to clean the plasma screen, was connected within 2 minutes and had my answer in 5 minutes (North American Support) Great. -
"Bright and sleek, works great out of the box" on by rmwatts--2008
Pros: Very bright, sharp picture in all lighting, versatile inputs
Cons: No Cable Card slot, sound is so so
Summary: With plasma there is the burn-in management issue, but that is worth the quality of the picture on this TV. I shopped a lot and found this to be competitive in quality and superior in features (computer, HDMI, firewire, etc. connections esp.) with others at about the same price, such as the Panasonic TH50-PX60U. Plus the kids thought it was very cool looking in the sleek black box, and found it easy to operate.
