Manufacturer description
The search for the perfect match to your DVD player stops with the HT-S760. Combine a powerful home theater receiver that gives you 100 watts of power with the latest formats, user-friendly features and a matched 6.1-channel speaker package, and the step-up to enveloping 6.1-channel surround sound has never been easier. The included receiver is designed to deliver as much as 100 W of power into 8 ohms with no more than 0.08 % THD to each of its five channels (two front, one center and two surrounds) to fill even most of the largest rooms with levels of sound from the most subtle to the most dynamic. The performance of the higher-end receivers is available at a fraction of the cost by sharing many of the same precision parts and circuit design (WRAT, Non-Scaling Configuration, discrete output stage circuitry) as its more expensive siblings. Adding Onkyo exclusives like Optimum Gain Volume circuitry and CinemaFILTER simply brings out the best in your DTS and Dolby Digital encoded movies and music. There's even Dolby Pro Logic II to further enhance the listening enjoyment of your two channel sources. Previously crossover frequency was fixed at 80 Hz. With Crossover Adjustment, you can set the frequency at 60/80/100/120 or 150 Hz depending on your speaker's bass playback ability. This lets you more accurately match the performance characteristics of the subwoofer to your front speakers. Onkyo's commitment to bringing the most user-friendly designed products to market further manifests itself with color-coded inputs and outputs. Now you'll no longer have worries about which cable goes to which input or output. Simply attach the color-coded speaker cable to the same colored input or output for fast and easy connection. 6.1-Channel Speaker Package is designed to instantly transform any room into an enveloping home theater.Product summary
The good: Exceptional sound quality for the price; component-grade, 100-watt-per-channel 6.1 receiver with Dolby Digital EX and DTS ES processing; six overachieving speakers; potent subwoofer.
The bad: The big speakers and the huge subwoofer will annoy your decorator; no included DVD/CD player.
The bottom line: Five hundred dollars never bought this much home theater.

Perfect and amazing
Pros: Everything you need to wow your friends and yourself.
Cons: None... get guage 14 wires, though.
But, seriously, this IS the best bang for your buck you can find. Mac Mall had refurbished units for only $250! I thought about getting one for the bedroom! I am an Onkyo fan now and will definitely look at their products IF I ever decide to upgrade.
BUY THIS IF YOU WANT SURROUND SOUND. My audiophile friend who worked in pro audio shops said he couldn't believe the sound and that 3K dollar equipment didn't sound as good...
I know I sound like an infomercial, but you WILL not be dissapointed.

This system will supply a BEAT DOWN!
Pros: This is my third surround sound system. I went looking for a new system because I out-grew my old one. The Onkyo brand name was new to me but after reading CNET's review I decided to give it a try. I brought it home and set the system up which took 1 to 2
Cons: No DVD but I didnt need another one anyway.

$Pay Less For Big Sound$
Pros: Crisp clear sound at all levels; quiet or loud. Powerful amp w/ more than enough rear connections. This sub can thump you into next week. Great value for performance. There's something about the weight and feel that's comparable to kicking a car tire, jus
Cons: No HDMI port. Bulky and heavy speakers. Make sure you have a big car. The box is HUGE, but then again, I drive a new beetle (i still got it in). I'm in the Air Force, so when moving, small is key. I suggest the Onkyo SKS-HT240. I prob. would have bought

Don't waste your time with anything else
Pros: Excellent well balanced sound for Movies AND music. The lows from the subwoofer will rattle your windows and picture frames on the wall. Video switching is a nice feature which most other HTIB don't have (A must have feature in my opinion). Tons of input/
Cons: My only quibble is with the remote. The buttons are small and placement not intuitive nor ergonomic. Also it does not allow you to tune to radio stations - how did they forget that? A small oversight for an otherwise excellent system that no one comes

Best sub $800 home theater for half the price. Period.
Pros: Very sturdy feel and performance. Great wholesome audiophile sound at affordable price. Routinely listen to music collection, HD shows and DVD movies. I am very happy as such though people often change the speaker and subwoofer wires supplied. DTS neo 6.1
Cons: Sometimes I wish that highs could be increased in certain music. The treble can be increased +12db, but not enogh.

so big, it ate me alive
Pros: best sounding system for a wide sounding surround effect- clean and effortless. subwoofer is large, but bass is taut. this is the best htib for the money by far. better for movies than music- music tends to sound thin, lacking warmth, but is still clea
Cons: the speakers are huge and look out of place. they do the job right with audio, but turn out the lights- they're an eyesore for any decor.

One word, AMAZING!
Pros: I managed to pick this system up for $350 aat Fry's Electronics. After listening to it I would have easily paid the full $500 for it. I did quite a bit of research before buying this system and all I can say is that I could not be happier with the quality
Cons: The speaker wire included works, but not great. Was a little skeptical about how much good speaker wire would help. I heard this system at Circuit City with Monster wire and bought new wire on the spot! Save your money and buy the good Radio Shack wire 16

Best Overall System for the Dollar
Pros: Speakers: Eventhough they are bigger then most system, they make a great full sound and come in a wood case not plastic. Connections: There are more output and inputs for the reciever then most people need, which makes it nice if you plan on expanding you
Cons: Remote: The remote does not give full access to all the functions of the reciever. For example you can not tune the radio sations with it. Cables: They are a cheap 24 gauge cables that might not be long enough for most rooms, but this is to be expected wi

Cons: I notice music sounds awesome and movies sound good sometimes great. I don't know if it is the input source (DVD or Satellite) or if Onkyo just really kicks butt on the audio side of things. Either way, a good DVD with great sound like Finding Nemo, Gla

Cannot find better for 3x the price!
Pros: Very accurate sound. Onkyo sub out performed and replaced my Klipsch sub. Lots of surround modes to chose from. As pleasing to the eye as it is to the ear. I've owned a lot of high end audio (Hafler, Klipsch, Denon, Yamaha, M.B.Quart), and this system

Highly Recommended System
Pros: Very awesome sound. The subwoofer pumps out only the deepest bass. I enjoy alot of bass when I listen to music and movies, but it's so powerful I only keep the sub at 3/4 volume.
Cons: The speakers are a bit bulky, the surround speakers are just the right size, but the stereo speakers are gigantic. But with the large size comes high quality audio.

Hold on to your seats
Pros: My parents have a $20,000 home theater set-up at their house, so I'm used to high end sound, and I'd settle for nothing less. After much research and deilberation, I bought this system, and CNET's not joking when they say $500 never bought this much sound
Cons: You actually will hear a difference when you change the subwoofer cable to a better one.

Five-Oh so good!
Pros: The sound is so crisp and clear at high or low volumes (with or without the sub). It's the best $$$ to sound value. It offers many decoding formats. Movies have never sounded so outstanding.
Cons: It will attract cops. They have come to my appartment 4 times, in 6 weeks, for playing movies too "loud". Keep the sub levels down if you live in a complex (or if you live above old people like I do). Remember to crank it up when they leave!

Pros: I still can't believe that I only paid $450 for this system (after a $50 rebate).Great sound and that bass!!! It is a killer... it will go right through you. I am very happy with the system.
Cons: Most people find the speakers to be to large. I guess it depends upon the individual. I didn't mind their size, especially after I heard them.

Amazing Sound for such a little Price
Pros: This is a very nice system with numerous easy-to-use functions. The 6.1 Surrond really works well, especially in movies such as Gladiator and other 6.1 capable movies. A specific example of the great of this quality ONKYO product was in the movie 2 Fast
Cons: A con would have to be the lack of DVD player. If you stick with the Brand, Onkyo will set you back another $300 after tax. Also, one more set of Video in's would be nice but a nicer model receiver would have that.
