Save your money. Get a TiVo, a flat-screen TV, a DVD player, and a stereo--all for the price of one laptop. Forget about a tiny, expensive ultraportable notebook; forget about a moderately priced thin-and-light. You'll need a big, honking behemoth--a desktop replacement to satisfy your every multimedia urge.

Multimedia laptops let you watch and record TV. They play and burn DVDs--even high-capacity double-layer DVDs. Many have speakers that will blow doors down, plus a big, bright, wide-screen display. And on top of all of that, they usually deliver kick-ass performance.

We've recently seen a number of notebooks that seek to fit that bill. Check out these laptops that combine all the holy elements of home entertainment.
