Updated October 10, 2005 If you spend a lot of time on the road, an ultraportable is probably your ideal laptop: small and lightweight, with just enough power to get the job done. Sure, you'll make a few sacrifices--ultraportable screens are usually 12 inches or smaller, and most feature scaled-down keyboards that can be uncomfortable for long stretches of typing. But those are minor quibbles when you're talking about schlepping your laptop from home to office (or from New York to Albuquerque). And as technology improves, ultraportables keep getting better: some models now offer integrated CD or DVD drives and more comfortable keyboards.
