Although the FCHV is as packed as any modern car under the hood, its components couldn't be more different. The top container sporting the Toyota and FCHV badges houses the power control unit, which determines where power flows in the vehicle. Underneath that, the fuel cell stack generates 90 kilowatts of electricity by combining hydrogen with oxygen. This reaction produces electricity, used to power the vehicle, and water, as a waste product.
