27. Sony PSP Go (2009-?)

Ah, the Sony PSP Go. What can we say? This is one of those products that was a good idea in theory, but a bad idea in practice. Part of the reason behind the PSP Go's failure was that while Sony was moving away from UMD and toward downloadable games, the iPhone was taking off as a game platform and the games were much cheaper and didn't take long to download. Also, the Go was pricey at $250.

The end result? You don't see too many of these guys in the wild.

It had an internet connection when others didn't and also included a detached handheld device similar to the new Wii. Overall it was well ahead of its time, but maybe tried to do a little too much. Also missed that standout game to help launch it and overall the games weren't great. SEGA need to stop trying to update/mash up with Mario Sonic and work on some new original releases.

The Segway - which are actually fun to do as a city tour - reminds of a similar "personal transport revolution" in the UK called the Sinclair C5, a totally bizarre plastic, electric trike.

HP Touchpad?

"Little reason to get Google TV"... it's too bad the networks conspired against it, but there are still LOTS of reasons to love GTV. First, it's cheap. At the price I paid for my Logitech Revue, it's worth it just as a reliable RF universal remote. Add the fact that I have a universal search mechanism, and a FAR better on-screen guide layout than I get from my cable provider, and it's a total win. All the Logitech device is missing is a backlit keyboard.
