Kyocera DuraXT (Sprint)
2 of 6 from Best simple phones for your holiday picks
The Kyocera DuraXT isn't just a flip phone. It's one tough mother of a flip phone that shrugs off dust, shock, and water. Call quality is great, too, and it's a vehicle for Sprint's push-to-talk protocol.
The good: The Kyocera DuraXT has an indestructible design, a decent camera, push-to-talk direct connect, and solid call quality.
The bad: The DuraXT isn't easy on the eyes, it has a nonstandard 2.5mm headset jack, and it can accumulate moisture underneath its screens.
The bottom line: Though its clamshell design isn't pretty, the Kyocera DuraXT is tough as nails, with great call quality, and a respectable camera to boot.
