In March, Apple finally announced support for full 720p or 1080i HD video output for the iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, and iPad 2. However, you need Apple's $39 Digital AV to send that HD video (audio) to a TV or monitor, whereas many Android-powered smartphones offer a built-in Micro-HDMI port that only requires an inexpensive $5 cable to run video to your TV.

Now that Apple's added AirPlay mirroring as part of iOS 5, if you have an Apple TV, you can stream video wirelessly to your TV via Apple TV (what's on your iPad 2 or iPhone 4S' screen is mirrored on the TV). That's nice, but it's worth mentioning that the Apple TV is a $99 accessory.

Chances of implementation: 0 percent

People, people, people.

You don't actually think that this technology is something new, do you? Really?

Let us take a short journey back to the month of June 6, 2009, shall we. It was on this day that (then) Palm introduced the Pre and Pixi smartphones. Both with built-in inductive charging. The first - and still ONLY phones on the market with it. In fact, I am still using my Palm Pre now.

I've got 3 Palm TouchStone charging docks. One at the office, one at home and one in the car. The phone is held down to the angled surface of the TouchStone magnetically, so that even when driving in my car and pulling G-forces in hard turns, the phone never budges from the charging pad. In the car it doubles as charging dock and phone mount. Just hop in the car, plop the phone down on the TouchStone, and away we go.

It's too bad more people don't know that Apple is far from the first to look into this. Palm had it first (2 1/2 years ago) and even my HP TouchPad has built-in inductive charging.

Nobody said it was new technology. The article is about most-wanted features that CNET wants to see in the next iPhone. So you registered a new account just to post this and you didn't even read the article. Way to go.

oh......everyone thinks they're such experts and smart critics! Surely everyone knows the old saying about people & opinions.......especially who criticize without creating anything!
Unquestionably, Apple makes the best, smartest and most appealing products ever created......and EVERYONE waits with eagerness 2 c what incredible innovations will appear.
Apple changes our collective world whenever they release a product........and we all will love it.....although some fools will claim they know more than Apple. Just appreciate the toys!
