Sony PlayStation (1994)

Following the failed Nintendo partnership, Sony formed Sony Computer Entertainment. That group released the first PS console in Japan in December 1994, and in the U.S. the following September, at $299. By the time it was discontinued in 2004, the platform had sold more than 100 million units.
