Other mobile Bluetooth devices
Bluetooth accessories for your cell phone aren't limited to just
headsets. Two up-and-coming categories for mobile Bluetooth
accessories is the Bluetooth speakerphone and portable stereo Bluetooth speaker. Mostly used as replacements
for expensive hands-free car kits, mobile conference phones, or speaker docks, these devices usually emit far better sound quality than that of your
cell phone's built-in speaker. A couple that we like include the Jabra Freeway and the Jawbone Jambox.
The Jabra Freeway is primarily meant for use in cars and sports a sun visor mount. Three speakers work to cancel out highway hum while users can even control major phone functions via spoken commands. The Freeway has a motion sensor too to shut itself off in case you forget to. Jawbone's Jambox on the other hand is a fun consumer gadget first but can answer calls too when necessary. The gadget acts as a premium stereo speaker for listening to music and other audio piped wirelessly from tablets and smartphones over Bluetooth. An internal mic allows for hands-free chatting as well. Then there are the oddball Bluetooth accessories that don't really have a category of their own. One is the Kyocera Wireless Music Gateway, which is able to transmit music from your cell phone to your home stereo system. Another that we tried out recently is the Intellitouch XLink BT Gateway that lets you use your cell phone number with a regular landline phone.
