Samsung Soul
(Credit: Samsung)Samsung gave us a lot of look at the GSMA World Congress and we've rolled them up here in a Samsung slide show. The company unveiled a long list of handsets, with the star attraction being the new Samsung Soul. As the company's "flagship product" for 2008, the Soul offers a sleek slider design (not that Samsung gives us much else these days) and a unique navigation touchpad with icons that change depending on the feature you're using. We gave it a test run, and it seemed to work pretty well, though a thorough shakedown is still to come. Multimedia and style were recurring themes in Samsung's booths, and the new company's new SGH-F400, SGH-F490 and SGH-F480 exhibit these traits solidly. Expect high-resolution cameras, Bluetooth, and media players. The latter two models also offer large touch screens. The SGH-G810 and SGH-P960 were also noteworthy. The SGH-G810 offers a 5-megapixel shooter, and the SGH-P960 offers a full Web browser and a document viewer. Check out our slide show to see the phones in all their glory.

(Credit: Samsung)As is its usual custom, Samsung has made quite a killing at the GSMA World Congress. Though its announcements aren't quite as exciting as those from Nokia or Sony Ericsson, it certainly made a respectable showing. Besides its new Soul, the company also unveiled the G810 and the P960.
Samsung SGH-G810: The G810 offers a slider design similar to the Samsung SGH-G800. Its feature set is also similar and includes a 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus, a 3x optical zoom, a xenon flash, GPS navigation, Bluetooth, TV out, USB 2.0, a 3.5mm headset jack, Geo-tagging for photos, Google search and Gmail, multiformat audio and video support, and Wi-Fi. There's a 2.6-inch color display and it all runs on a Symbian S60, third edition operating system. The SGH-G810 is part of Samsung's new "Infotainment" category, though we're not really sure what that means.

(Credit: Samsung)At trade shows such as the GSMA World Congress, Samsung has a tendency to beat us over the head with new cell phones. At the 2008 event, Samsung didn't let us down. The company showed off almost more than 20 handsets, many of which are fresh out of the labs. We already told you about the Samsung Soul, and my UK colleague Andrew Lim rounded up eight other new models including the style-centric Samsung G400. But there's a lot more to tell you, beginning with the company's news conference that it held yesterday. Three highlights from the event were the Samsung F480 and the Samsung F400.
Samsung SGH-F400: The F400 falls under the company's "Multimedia" category, and what a multimedia phone it is. Features include a music player, stereo speakers, an amplifier with Bang & Olufsen technology, an FM radio, music recognition, multiformat audio and video support, Bluetooth, USB 2.0, and a 3-megapixel camera. The sleek slider design is eye-catching and it offers a 2.2-inch display. The F400 is triband (GSM 900/1800/1900) and it support European 3G networks.

Inside you'll find a 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus and image stabilization, multiformat audio and video, Google Search support, Bluetooth, USB 2.0, and a 3.5mm headset jack (yay!). It supports the same GSM and 3G bands as the F480.

Though it's certainly attractive the F400 isn't all looks. It has a 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus and image stabilization, an FM radio, video messaging, mobile blogging, Bluetooth, USB 2.0, and e-mail.
