Windows 7, please enlighten me with your opinions on this to be released OS

Dear CNET members,

Happy Friday! Just a reminder that the CNET forums and our caring community members are here for you! So, if you are in need of technical help or buying advice, give the CNET forums a try and post your questions. And if you are on the knowledgeable and giving side, swing on by to help someone else out. We even have brand-specific forums, like the Samsung and Dell forums, which are even staffed with their representatives to directly assist you! So swing by and be part of the CNET community. Now let's see if our members can enlighten Enrique about the to-be-released Windows 7.

Even though Windows 7, Microsoft's newest operating system, isn't slated to be release until late this year, I'm sure many folks like Enrique are curious as to what to expect from this newest OS edition from Microsoft--especially those who have opted not to upgrade to Vista or are currently not having issues with Vista. Regardless, I'm happy to say that our members who have been beta testing Windows 7 have delivered! These folks have offered a wealth of opinions from their experience using Windows 7 and I want to thank you all.

Overall, from what I've read, I would have to say that the majority of folks who had something to say about Windows 7 have been very positive, stating that this OS is faster, snappier, and much more stable. But don't take my word for it, check out what our members had to say in this week's discussion thread. And to get you started, I picked out a few opinions from our members in the Q&A a section, so read up. Hopefully after reading all the feedback, we all will have a clearer understanding of what's expected from Windows 7. If any of you would like to weigh in on this topic further, I leave the forums at your disposal. We are all listening. Thanks, everyone!

Cheers!
- Lee

Last week's question
Windows 7, please enlighten me with your opinions on this to be released OS
QuestionThis may be a premature question, but I would to know a bit more about Windows 7. For those who beta tested Windows 7 and/or are still currently running Windows 7, what is your opinion on Windows 7? Is it really better than Vista or worse? If better, how so? Are there more features? What new features can we expect to see? My current system is running Windows Vista, will I have to upgrade my hardware again to run 7? And last question, will you be upgrading to Windows 7 when it is released? Please enlighten me on anything you can for me and others who are curious and anticipating this new OS release. Thank for all your opinions and insights to these questions.

Check out next week's question:
100 percent CPU usage caused by SVCHOST process, need help
Next week's questionHi, I am most frustrated by a process that takes the CPU to 100 percent use and then lets it drop back to about 50 percent every couple of seconds, which seems to run while my Vista 32 computer is idle with no programs actually running other than Windows. The usage report shows the offending "thing" to be "svchost," whatever that is--but it can hog up to 78 percent of the CPU, making everything else run like it was an old 286! Can you please tell me what this process is? Is it something I can disable? How I can fix this very frustrating problem! Thank you.
