Product brief
Description: This VisionTek Radeon HD 2400 Pro is a 256 MB, mainstream 3D card.Compared to other mainstream 3D display cards on the market, it is relatively inexpensive at around $95.
Pros: Has a High-Definition multimedia interface (HDMI) and digital visual interface (DVI) DVI, which is somewhat more favorable than some similarly priced display cards.By way of comparison, the average cost of a product with a comparable set of DVI is $190.
Cons: Has only 256 MB RAM, which is less than some similarly priced display cards.
Suitability: Suited for all productivity tasks, as well as for the casual 3D gamer. This card supports DirectX 10 technology, used in Microsoft's Windows Vista OS, and is the new technology for the upcoming generation of high-performance games.
Value: In view of its relatively inexpensive price, this graphics card has good features for the money. Also, you could expect to pay about 30% more for a card with comparable features and onboard memory.
Suggestions: (1) This card has DVI-out to connect to similarly enabled flat panel or plasma monitors and produce a clearer picture than does analog-to-digital conversion.(2) For Editor's Reviews of the latest graphics cards, visit the graphics and sound section of CNET's website.
