Best Bluetooth headsets of 2007
Nicole Lee, Associate Editor December 14, 2007
It's almost the end of 2007, and it's time we take a look back at the year that was. 2007 was a huge year for Bluetooth headsets, for both the mono and the stereo variety. In fact, 2007 was when stereo Bluetooth headsets really took off, especially since a lot of cell phones these days have built-in music players and stereo Bluetooth support. There were literally hundreds of headsets that debuted this year, and it would be impossible to cover them all. However, a few stood out to us as especially outstanding, and here they are. The Aliph Jawbone Bluetooth headset was one of the first we reviewed this year, all the way back in January. It is still one of our highest-rated headsets, with a design and performance that was tried and tested by none other than the military, resulting in almost perfect sound quality. Another one that has above-average sound quality was the SoundID SM100, which was developed with a thorough understanding of the science of hearing (the founder of SoundID is an otologist from Stanford University). Plantronics always has excellent headsets, and the Plantronics Voyager 520 is no exception, with an affordable price point and great sound quality. Venturing forth into the stereo headset category, Plantronics also makes one of my personal favorite headsets of the year, the Plantronics Voyager 855. It can be either mono or stereo, simply by detaching or attaching a wired earbud. Last but not least, we also really liked the Cardo S-2 stereo Bluetooth headset, with its great sound quality and comfortable fit around the ears.
