Roundup: All-in-one printers under $200

Justin Yu Justin Yu, May 29, 2009

Multifunctional printers can make life a lot easier and more productive by combining a printer, copier, scanner, and fax machine all into one enclosed device. There are plenty of benefits, but we especially appreciate that each hardware suite works fluidly with the other. For example, a good all-in-one lets you scan your favorite photo, quickly edit out flaws and blemishes, and print it out on the same device. Additional features like auto-document feeders (ADF), auto-duplexing (print on both sides), and even built-in Wi-Fi are becoming increasingly more popular and give you the versatility you need to get the job done. But just because these devices come loaded with features doesn't mean you should have to sell your computer to get the benefits. Check out our favorite all-in-ones that come in under $200.

The Bottom Line The HP Photosmart C6380 is a good fit for beginning photographers who want more than just a simple printer. Its six-ink cartridge bay, and scanning and copying capabilities extend its versatility, and while the output quality suffers a few missteps, the C6380 remains a worthwhile deal for the money. Aside from a few design hang-ups and a slower than average output speed, the Lexmark X7675 Professional all-in-one printer is a cut above other multifunctional printers. Its excellent quality prints, easy-to-set-up wireless connectivity, and generous five-year warranty catapult it to the top of our list of favorites. The HP Officejet J6480 has a lot of built-in features that are rarely found included in a $200 printer. Shoppers looking for an all-inclusive multifunctional unit will be impressed with the robust hardware and rich print quality. The Canon Pixma MX330 doesn't produce the best quality prints, but you won't find a more versatile printer in the sub-$150 category. An auto-document feeder, 1.8-inch LCD screen, and easy-to-use features make it an excellent choice for creative homes on a budget.
