In today's installment of cool smart phones that aren't available in the United States yet, we feature the Sony Ericsson P990. This smart phone is the long-awaited successor to the
Sony Ericsson P910a, and judging by the crowd that swarmed around it, this mobile will garner quite a bit of attention from mobile professionals when (and if) it hits U.S. shores. For now, the P990 is expected to be available in Europe, Asia, and Africa in Q3 2006, but when asked about a stateside release, a Sony Ericsson rep didn't rule it out. The handset features the Symbian 9.1 operating system, a 2-megapixel camera, and Wi-Fi. It also has an improved QWERTY keyboard that is integrated into the body of the phone--not on the flap--for a better user experience and improved stability.

The p910i is sorely outdated. Present owners will FLY to this handset with all its
stuff -- but with the plethora of handsets that have very similar skill sets, we'll
probably go elsewhere at this point. You people risk losing brand-loyalty, as SE
appears to not be loyal to US based customers. Bad move if you don't bring it to
the US soon.
Being a P910i user I must say the only thing I felt the phone needed was Wi-Fi and may be a fm radio.. this has both. Its awesome I'm glad they didn't choose windows mobile its too cumbersome and would've taken all the fun away from this phone. I like the sentence complication/ predictive input software that comes with it. The 2mp camera doesn't hurt either. Ooh and not to mention its business card scanner software (though its still in the development phase) which ofcourse lets you scan any business card and then updates all the relevant fields in your address book (sheer genius). This phone is a one stop business solution.
