Sorry, but although I've long ago figured out how to use iDrive, I still don't like it. Four whole motions just to view the map?

The best thing that I can say about the old iDrive system is that it's being replaced this year. I like the way the rotary controller feels in the hand, but the menus aren't organized in a way that makes sense to the average person.
2

iDrive will never sit right with me (though that may change when the all-new version arrives), but I soften a bit for that gorgeous wide screen.

COMAND uses a slightly weird paradigm, with menu bars on the top and bottom of the screen. But it works well enough and is never really annoying.
4

The COMAND system is light years ahead of the old iDrive system. The system smartly uses the instrument-cluster LCD for things like navigation prompts, so it's easier to use while in motion.
3

The all new COMAND interface is pretty darn intuitive, though it still requires a few Donkey Kong-style jumps to get to what you want.
