Do you need the manual to turn it on?

Sexiness is one thing, but are the devices easy to use? In Round 2, we examine the design and usability of the devices' navigation controls and keypad buttons.

Save for a single button, the iPhone is all touch screen. On the whole, the interface is easier to use then I expected, and the multitouch feature certainly is pretty, but I still enjoy buttons. That's why I have to give it to the Voyager this round.

This round is a draw for me. I found the iPhone's menu system easier to navigate than the Voyager's. That said, I still prefer having a tactile keyboard.
4

Navigating the iPhone is quite easy, thanks to the its multitouch abilities and the easy-to-use touch screen interface. But the lack of keys does require a learning curve, especially when typing out text messages.

The Voyager has one of the best alphabetic keyboards I've seen on a cell phone. It also does a fine job with its other internal controls, and the tactile feedback on the touch screen is very welcome.

Being a Verizon phone, the Voyager uses the carrier's kludgy menu system, which isn't the most intuitive. I do, however, like the vibrating feedback of the touch screen, and being a heavy texter, I love the full QWERTY keyboard.

The LG Voyager is a clear winner in this round, due to the combination of both a touch screen and a full QWERTY keyboard. In the end, nothing quite beats the comfort and security of tactile keys for text messaging.
