Bottom line
The HTC Shift's small size raises some usability issues, and its battery life doesn't match what we'd expect from such a portable device. However, our primary complaint about the Shift is its remarkably high price.
Too large to be a smart device, too small to be a useful Netbook, the import-only Viliv S5 is a neat proof-of-concept that is best for portable media playing.
The new generation of similarly sized Netbooks do more and cost less than the Samsung Q1 Ultra Premium, putting another nail in the UMPC coffin.
