CNET product brief

Description: The Canon Canoscan Lide 500F is a 2400 dpi x 4800 dpi, graphic arts scanner.Compared to other graphic arts scanners on the market, it is relatively inexpensive at around $155.

Pros: This has a good resolution of 2400 dpi x 4800 dpi.

Cons: None noted, given available product data.

Suitability: A graphic arts scanner, suited for high-quality scans for professional and commercial graphic-arts use.The CIS scanning element in this unit contributes to its compactness, but material to be scanned must be in direct contact with the scanning surface. This flatbed scanner will create not only pages of text and pictures, but will also record images of objects laid on the glass, such as hands or jewelry.Easily scan bound reports and stapled forms with this flatbed.

Value: Given its relatively inexpensive price, this scanner has great features for the money.Furthermore, if you were judge strictly by scanner resolution, you might pay up to 40% more for a comparable graphic arts scanner.
