Xbox's 480p issues

| || | The Xbox's support
for 480p progressive scan doesn't extend to the console's setup screen, which causes me endless headaches. Is there any workaround for this?
Since the Xbox debuted, this design flaw meant headaches for owners of the early HDTVs, which had inputs for 480i or 480p but no input that accepted both (Samsung was a notable culprit).
Recent downloadable upgrades to Xbox Live have added 480p support to the Xbox Dashboard (the setup screen). The catch? The only way to activate it is by accessing the very same setup screen that you can't see to begin with.
