Q
If I have a USB 2.0-capable printer, should I go out and buy a USB 2.0 cable, or can I get the same performance using an older USB 1.0 cable that I already have?

Despite what the text emblazoned on the packaging says, there is no such thing as a "USB 2.0" cable. A USB cable is a USB cable and should work equally well with both versions of the standard. That said, not all USB cables are created equal. There's only one specification standard for USB cables, but a cable that doesn't meet the spec can work fine with USB 1.1 devices and fail (not deliver the faster performance) with USB 2.0 products.
