Q
Before I invest in a dual-layer DVD burner for my PC, I'd like to know this: will the cutting-edge dual-layer discs play back on all DVD players?

Most of the Hollywood-produced DVDs you buy are dual-layer discs, so if your existing DVD player can handle movies such as Gladiator, The Matrix, and The Lord of the Rings, it should be able to spin a home-burned dual-layer DVD+R. If not, upgrading to a newer DVD player--any entry-level, $80 Philips, Sony, Panasonic, and so forth--should do the trick.
