Best keyboards and mice for a laptop
February 16, 2005 | I'm a student and I'm always on the go with my computer. I just bought a little Averatec 3300, and I'm hoping to buy a portable external mouse and keyboard. Wireless would be cool if it worked well and was relatively cheap. I don't mind being wired though. Do you have any advice? | Submitted by: Chris,

| | | The wireless portable mice world is laden with options. Our favorite notebook mice have a convenient place to store the receiver for easy portability and let you power it down to save on battery life. We recommend the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse; it's a little larger than some of the notebook mice out there, but it'll also do less damage to your pocketbook. Wireless and portable keyboards, if you can find them, are usually pretty expensive. Instead, a wired unit should suit your needs. For ultimate keyboard portability, the Manhattan True-Touch Roll-Up Keyboard fits the bill and will fit just about anywhere, but it's not the most comfortable. Small-form keyboards are another good option; we like the Kensington Slim Type or the BenQ DeskSaver--both cost less than $40.
