Is an LCD or a plasma TV
better for gaming?

I have a question about using a flat-panel TV for gaming. I am worried about the burn-in issue with plasmas, so LCD would seem the way to go. But the deal with LCDs not having as good a picture makes me think twice about the whole thing. What's your advice?
| |It's a tough decision because a good plasma definitely has a better picture than a good LCD
(check our top TV lists
for our favorites in each category). I recommend plasma if you're really concerned about image quality. Plasma's black-level benefits are mostly apparent in dim room lighting, and if you're sensitive to the slight smearing present on some LCDs, then plasma's the better choice. On the flip side, if you like to turn up the TV contrast and color, play games for 12 hours straight in a bright room, and walk away and leave a still image onscreen, then plasma burn-in
could be an issue. In that case, LCD is a better choice, but obviously less satisfying as a home-theater display. For more in-depth explanations of the various technologies mentioned above, check out our feature on flat-panel TVs.
