JUDGES: Justin Yu, Jasmine France, and James Kim
When Apple first introduced the Apple iPod Nano, it was touted as the device to win over the relatively small niche market of flash-based audio enthusiasts. To this day, the Nano proudly holds it own as the ringer for most popular, but how does it fare against other flashies that have come out of the forge since? Here at CNET, we pride ourselves on providing an unbiased and objective viewpoint for our readers, so we must give other manufacturers a chance to send their best to battle the Nano. Enter Samsung's sweetheart, the YP-Z5. The YP-Z5 brings plenty of tricks to the table, most notably its gorgeous 1.8-inch LCD, which begs to display album art and an unheard-of 38 hours of battery life. It looks like this is going to be a long round for Apple, but the Nano is not without its own strategy--it incorporates the classic Apple iPod Click Wheel into a body that is not only très chic but also internally robust, making the Nano a worthy opponent for our newcomer. East meets west in a fight to the death in today's lightweight bout!
Ding ding!
