How to get more help

More help reading your bills

Are you still having trouble making heads or tails of your cell phone bill? We can't blame you; each carrier uses a different set of sections, subsections, and terms in its monthly billing summaries. Luckily, you can find help on your carrier's Web site. Each of the major carriers we surveyed had reasonably detailed guides to reading its specific bills, along with glossaries and FAQs.
Need to file a complaint?

If you're wrangling with your carrier over your cell phone bill and not making headway, you can always turn to the Federal Communications Commission, the government agency that presides over all matters wireless. Make sure you keep a copy of the bill in question, a log with names of the carrier reps you spoke to, and the time and the date you called. You can call the FCC at 888/225-5322 (CALL FCC), send an e-mail to fccinfo@fcc.gov, or visit the FCC's Web site.
