I like what Charles has done in terms of placement. His custom-fabricated console for the display looks really good, and the way the PC motherboard fits in the console is a very nice use of what is otherwise dead space. I'm also impressed that his dream car is a '74 Bronco! What bothers me a bit, though, is the human interface to all this--that display has some very tiny text on it, and only the keyboard as a control surface. Sounds like danger ahead to me.
Here's what I would do. First, convert to a
small-form-factor wireless keyboard to get rid of that horsey keyboard cable and the danger of it snagging something while driving.
While he's doing that, I would suggest integration of a device such as this
PC contact closure button interface, which would allow the use of an array of push buttons he could install along the sides of the display bezel. I suspect this would give him much easier control of often-used PC functions while driving.
