JUDGES: Justin Yu, Jasmine France, and James Kim

There are certain devices that blaze onto the market from time to time that make our jobs as objective observers incredibly difficult. The Toshiba Gigabeat S MES30VW is just one of those gadget all-stars. Although this little guy might look sleek and demure on the outside, competitors should certainly be wary of the powerhouse that lurks under the surface, just waiting to be unleashed on, say, an overconfident Apple video iPod. After obliterating the Philips GoGear HDD6330 Jukebox in our last prizefight, the iPod has yet to see a worthy opponent step into the ring. With so much hype backing the Gigabeat, could this combination music jukebox/video player/FM radio/storage device finally usurp the crown, or will its proprietary software requirements, subpar audio battery life, and lack of recording tools place the player in an early dirt nap? Let's keep this clean, fellas.

Ding ding!
