In round 2, we examine the menu navigation and the usability of the devices' controls and QWERTY keyboards.

The navigation keys on the BlackJack are a lot more tactile and easy to press when compared to the Q's. The same goes for the BlackJack's QWERTY keyboard, even though it was more crowded.

The BlackJack's toggle is rather slick, and the OK button is too flush with the surface of the smart phone. Also, the random spacing of the number buttons in the keypad is just weird. On the other hand, I like the wealth of shortcut buttons and the tactile feel of the other navigation keys.
3

Argh!! I had a hell of a time using the navigation controls on the BlackJack. The four-way toggle is cramped, and I kept hitting the wrong button. And thanks, Samsung, for highlighting the number keys in gray, but the weird layout doesn't make it easy to dial numbers.

The Q suffers from flat controls that are unpleasant to use when navigating. I also find the Q's QWERTY keyboard to be stiffer and not as easy to type on.
4

Since they have more raised surfaces, I like the Q's toggle and joystick much better than the BlackJack's nav array. The placement of its number buttons also is more comfortable. On the downside, the soft keys could have a better feel. The scrollwheel was the same on both devices.

The Moto Q is the hands-down winner in this category. With its roomy keyboard and the navigation toggle raised above the phone's surface, it's clear sailing on this device.
