CNET Top 10: Worst tech of Q3 2006

Worst new apps on Download.com

By Peter Butler (October 11, 2006)

A wise fictional character once said, "There's a fine line between clever and stupid." This ridiculous screensaver rides that line for all it's worth.

Well, "free love" sounds good, and "compatibility tester" sounds interesting, but unfortunately this horrible program just compares the letters in partners' names...and serves ads.

Number 301.4 = obsessive-compulsive personality disorder = anyone who downloads this app that matches diseases and injuries with their International Classification of Diseases codes.

Do you really want to set a half-naked man wearing a Roman toga as your Windows wallpaper? How about eight variations of that toga dude? I didn't think so.

Searching for a new job is hard enough without this insult to your intelligence. Oh yes, I'm sure I would enjoy bricklaying--pay no mind to my complete lack of experience or interest.

Sitcking with the genre of useless Windows utilities, this tool makes copies of directories. I personally prefer Copy and Paste to a $9 shareware program.

As if RSIs weren't bad enough, this silly program reverses the direction of your mouse movement. Move right, and your mouse moves left. Hilarious!

Have you ever been flummoxed when trying to empty a Windows directory? Me neither. Even worse, this pointless app works only with XP.

Formerly known as Klomanager, the English variation of this bathroom sim fares no better. It's recommended only for gamers who long for beverage holders on their thunder mugs.

It might seem like chaotic nonsense, but apparently there's a science to backyard wrestling that requires a 1,306-page e-book (including a 21-page legal disclaimer, natch).
