CES Backstage Crew

CES is the tech world's big sneak peek at the gadgets that will rule our world in 2007. The show's not open to the public, but five lucky CNET users have won a golden ticket to Las Vegas, and they'll be on the show floor, shooting videos and blogging about all the tech toys they discover.

U.S. winners
Richard Gunther
Richard Gunther
Richard has worked in tech for nearly 20 years and confesses to being a gadget freak: he owns 10 computers and was the first in his circle to buy a DVD player, a plasma TV, and a TiVo. At CES, he wants to see home audio/video and home-automation products, and he hopes to finally find the perfect universal remote.

Jonathan Kehoe
Jonathan Kehoe
Jonathan is a writer, a director, an actor, and a teacher who would like to build an electric, eco-friendly hot rod. He can't live without his video iPod, home to his music, podcasts, TV shows, and the complete photo library of his son. At CES, he's most looking forward to seeing the Planar Xscreen and the Xbox with HD downloads.

Doug Platz
Doug Platz
Doug recently received his degree in broadcast journalism and counts himself a near-pro tech consumer. He's had all kinds of computers, gaming consoles, cameras, cell phones, DVD players, TVs, MP3 players, and more. Doug wants to replace his Treo 650, so at the show, he'll be keen to see smart phones, as well as new gaming releases.

International winners
Rory Allthorpe
Rory Allthorpe   Australia
As a sales trainer for a large telecommunications company, Rory loves helping people understand how tech can enhance their lives. When not prowling the Internet for info about the latest gadgets, he enjoys bush walking and camping. He looks forward to previewing the new tech and being able to brag back home about how he saw it first.

Nate Lanxon   U.K.
Nate is currently studying computer science and writes a blog, TechsMessage.com. Nate's a huge fan of Half-Life and his fifth-generation iPod, with which he listens to many, many podcasts; watches video podcasts; and plays Tetris in taxis.
