Desktops with Microsoft's Media Center Edition OS
The Media Center PC is Microsoft's second major attempt at bringing your TV and PC under one roof. Back in 1997, the idea was to take a portion of your PC over to your TV with WebTV. Do you know anyone who surfs the Net via remote control on their TV? Either do we. Fast forward five years to Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE). Microsoft is now pulling in the opposite direction in attempting to haul TV over to the PC. With Windows XP MCE, you get a fully functional PC (not just Web access) coupled with TV and digital video recorder (DVR) features, plus tools to play music and organize, edit, and view photos. Read our reviews to find out if Media Center PCs are ready for prime time.

Review summary Alienware packs plenty of features into the Navigator Pro's compact case, but we'll wait to buy any Media Center PC until Microsoft resolves the copy-protection issues.
