Microsoft's long-awaited 64-bit version of Windows has arrived,
but the 64-bit laptop picture is decidedly one-sided. Unlike with
desktops, Intel has yet to release a 64-bit mobile processor. Don't
despair; there are plenty of 64-bit AMD-based laptops from which to
choose. Most of them, however, are large desktop-replacement and gaming
notebooks, but if you're willing to lug around a bulky laptop, you can
have your 64 bits and take them with you. Now that Windows XP x64 is
out, we expect 64-bit computing to gain momemtum in both software and
hardware. Look for a wider selection of 64-bit laptops later this year.
