Two new, wireless Palm OS handhelds

| Palm and Handspring both have big plans for wireless handhelds in 2002. On January 28, Palm announced the i705, its update to the Palm VIIx, with always-on access to corporate e-mail. In February, Handspring will begin selling its Treo 180, which melds a cell phone and the Palm OS PDA. While the two are dramatically different in terms of design and use, both were released amid much hype. With that in mind, we tested both to see whether they deliver on their promises, then had our editors weigh in on where the market for wireless PDAs and smart phones is headed.
