Gamer
For those of you prone to spending more time plugged in than you do in the meat world, we understand that you may feel more connected to your mouse that you do to some family members. We have no desire to interrupt that bond (although, your mom really wishes you would write); we would merely like to say, hey, we know you like that ratty old keyboard, but have you seen these? Could make a difference. That's all we're saying.
Creative FreePoint Electra Mouse
Creative FreePoint Electra Mouse
We've seen plenty of PC cases, and even keyboards, that light up, but until now, we've seen few mice. The cool blue emanating from the FreePoint Electra mouse glows, well, blue. Aside from complementing an LED-lit PC, we're not too excited about the FreePoint Electra as a gaming mouse. Its ambidextrous design makes no concessions to ergonomics, and with no extra buttons, you might not be able to reload or switch weapons as quickly as your opponent.

Logitech MX510 Performance Mouse
Logitech MX510 Performance Mouse
If you're looking for a mouse that will help elevate your play, Logitech's MX510 and its 800dpi optical sensor will give you finer accuracy than most of the standard, less-sensitive optical mice, perfect for when you're trying to line up a shot from a distance. It also looks modest enough so that it won't appear entirely out of place on a work computer that serves double duty after hours as a gaming PC.

Razer Viper USB Mouse
Razer Viper USB Mouse
The less-capable sibling to Razer's superior Diamondback mouse (see below), the no-frills Viper has a higher-end 1,000dpi optical sensor but only two buttons and a scrollwheel. Its ambidextrous design lends itself well to left-handed gamers, but for the same price, you can get the almost equally sensitive 800dpi Logitech MX510 Performance Mouse and its extra right-thumb buttons.

Razer Diamondback
Razer Diamondback
By now it should be no mystery to you that all mice are not created equal. But Razer's Diamondback is a scary übermouse that makes all other mice shiver in their holes. Its 1,600dpi optical sensor is double that of any other mouse we've seen, allowing the Diamondback to pick up the tiniest movement of your hand. For most gamers, this level of performance is overkill, but if you're serious about fragging, look no further.

Saitek PC Gamers' Keyboard
Saitek PC Gamers' Keyboard
The Saitek PC Gamers' Keyboard not only lights up blue (helping you see when playing in the dark), it also comes with a programmable Command Pad that, thanks to two shift keys, gives you 27 additional quick buttons. The keyboard itself is a little long, and, counting the mouse, the three pieces of control hardware may be more than some gamers want, but with mastery, it's easy to see how more quick keys could give you an edge.
