Updated October 27, 2005 CNET Labs uses the DisplayMate test utility to evaluate every monitor that's reviewed on CNET. Each LCD withstands a battery of tests to see how well it renders gray and color gradients, complex patterns, and grids. Though no monitor has ever received a perfect score of 100, some have come close. So far in 2005, we've put more than 20 19-inch LCDs through these rigorous tests. Only five monitors scored higher than 70, and we present them to you. (Keep in mind that performance is only one part of a monitor's overall score. Read more about how we test monitors.)
