LCDs for movie buffs

Whether you make your own movies or enjoy watching other people's creations, your monitor is key to getting a good picture. Movie buffs need a monitor with a fast response time and good color. Such LCDs are difficult to come by because manufacturers focus mostly on only one of the two attributes: color or response time. However, we've rounded up the LCDs that give solid performance in both areas. Most have additional inputs for connecting video equipment directly to the monitor, along with a generous amount of screen real estate.

Review summary The Sony SDM-HS75P/S is an attractive, glossy 17-inch LCD that's better suited for movies and games than for serious work. The Sony MFM-HT75W is a snazzy, well-designed dual-purpose LCD that will please those who want a display that can work and play simultaneously. Dell's 24-inch LCD delivers excellent image quality and a ton of features--wide-ranging video inputs, picture-in-picture, and flash-card slots--for a great price. Casual gamers and graphic designers will like this overall solid LCD. The Apple 23-inch Cinema Display is low on extras and high on price. Still, one look at this gorgeous LCD, and you'll kiss your practicality good-bye.
