Updated December 21, 2005 CNET Labs uses the DisplayMate test utility to evaluate every monitor that's reviewed on CNET. Each LCD withstands a battery of tests to see how well it renders gray and color gradients, complex patterns, and grids. Though no monitor has ever received a perfect score of 100, some have come close. In 2005, we put more than 20 20-plus-inch LCDs through these rigorous tests. Only six monitors scored higher than 75, and we present them to you here. (Keep in mind that performance is only one part of a monitor's overall score. Read more about how we test monitors.)
