Editors' recap: Alas for Kyocera fans, the phone that can do it all couldn't do it this time around. In the end, its wireless PDA capabilities got smothered by the Motorola/Nextel's crisp communication skills. Time after time, the i95cl made a Direct Connect with the hoop and comfortably slipped past the Kyocera into the championship game.

The fans sound off: - "Nextel takes this one. The walkie-talkie feature pushes it over the edge."
- "I think you're pitting a Pinto (Nextel) against a Mustang (Kyocera). There's no comparing the two! The 7135 is an all-around workhorse (and plaything) for the techie in all of us!"
- "Nextel should definitly win. The Palm feature of the Kyocera is not that user-friendly in the context of its functions. But the PTT feature of the Nextel i95 is easy to use, and the function is invaluable in a business or personal situation. In times of heightened security alerts, I like knowing that I can communicate quickly and securely with my PTT feature. What good is that Palm feature going to do me during those times? Function in real-world situations is what I want. Go Nextel. Slam dunk!"
- "It's like Joni said: Direct Connect vs. Palm OS. I gotta go with the Kyocera simply because anyone who's business-oriented enough to need Direct Connect is also gonna have a Palm, and the Kyocera is just so much better than having to carry two thing around in your pocket all the time (plus, the Kyocera plays MP3s)."
- "So the versatile Kyocera faces another one-trick pony. Last time, the opponent's strength was terrific looks; this time, it's that cool 'chirp chirp' sound. But you get much the same thing, some ways better, with the Kyocera's category-specific ring tones. You can even give your close friends' numbers a ring tone that goes 'chirp chirp' if you want! And that's just the start of the Kyo's terrific 'fully integrated PDA' gameplan. Walkie-talkies are for junior high."
- "People forget that Nextel has the most reliable network in the country. I have had Nextel for over a year and have had only two dropped calls. The other phones may look better but do not perform as well. The Kyocera is a nice phone, but it can perform only as well as the network it's on. It's the i95cl all the way."
- "Let me say one thing that nobody has said yet: No analog backup on Nextel. No Nextel tower means no service. Back to the basic question: Why do most people carry a cell phone? In case of an emergency, I want a phone that will work in most rural places."
- "The 7135 should win this no-contest matchup. It is a very well-designed phone/PDA hybrid. It is a bit bulky due to the Palm standard-sized LCD but is worth it. The LCD is very bright and has 65K colors, and the photos are very vivid."
- "Can I get a chirp-chirp?"
