Samsung wows us with a dozen handsets

Knowing last year's line would be a tough act to follow, Samsung upped the ante by showing off 12 handsets at this year's CTIA. From relatively staid flip-style handsets such as the x475 and the a570 to such powerful smart phones as the i645 and the potentially Treo-killing i730, Samsung is poised to offer mobiles that will please any consumer. The company also is banking on the megapixel camera craze by offering five new mobiles whose photographic capabilities range from 1 megapixel all the way up to 2 megapixels. Designwise, Samsung is offering several slider phones. The p777, destined for Cingular Wireless, has support for EDGE data speeds, rocks a massive 100MB of internal memory, and is chock-full of high-end multimedia capabilities, while the a800 has a 2-megapixel camera, an enormous 2-inch TFT display, and a built-in business card scanner. Getting back to features, the company's p207 flip phone has support for speech-to-text dictation; the a795 is both a CDMA and a GSM phone, making it the ultimate accessory for all you would-be globe-trotters; and the a880 is a multimedia juggernaut.
