Let's be honest. We here in the United States are a bit behind the times when it comes to state-of-the-art cell phones. Often, we're left to look on with envy as our friends in Europe and Asia get their hands on the latest and greatest handsets that can pretty much do everything except cook you dinner. We oohed and ahhed over the touch-sensitive screen on the Apple iPhone, but heck, Japan already has that feature.
One particular line of hard-to-get mobiles that has been coveted by you, the readers, and by us as well is the Nokia N series. These high-end smart phones--or multimedia computers, as the company calls them--pack in a boatload of advanced entertainment options, productivity tools, and of course, voice features. When the series first debuted with the likes of the Nokia N70 and the Nokia N90, the inclusion of a 2-megapixel camera was rare (still is), not to mention the streaming media support, Bluetooth, ample memory, and more. Since then, the company has only added to the capabilities. Late last year and then at CES 2007, Nokia unveiled a number of new and revamped models. Among the most impressive are the the Nokia N95, which has a 5-megapixel camera, integrated GPS, and Wi-Fi, and the sexy and sleek Nokia N76. Also joining the family is the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet.
Of course, the problem remains that most of these phones aren't available in the United States. For a number of reasons, the U.S. carriers have not picked up these high-end mobiles, so you'll have to pay a premium to get an unlocked version. However, Nokia said it is working on making it easier to buy the N-series phones from its Web site. So for the ultimate gadget hounds, cell phone geeks, or the curious, here we present to you the next generation of Nokia N-series multimedia computers.
