802.16
The IEEE standard for broadband wireless communications in a WMAN. It covers the frequency spectrum from 2GHz to 11GHz for unlicensed and licensed bands, and 10GHz to 66GHz for licensed frequencies. The technology promises to bring wireless networking to entire cities, counties, or remote areas, offering a bandwidth of up to 70Mbps over a range of 30 miles.
