amplitude 
Amplitude is the the strength of an analog signal, such as a sound wave. Signals contain peaks and valleys. The amplitude of the wave is determined by measuring the difference between the peaks and the valleys and dividing the results by two. The higher the amplitude, the stronger the wave.
