CNET GLOSSARY: Terms for the techie
High-speed telecommunications that transmit data within a broad band of frequencies that can be subdivided to transmit multiple channels at once. This is also sometimes called wideband. Types of broadband range from digital subscriber lines (DSL) to cable modems to broadband wireless. (ISDN has largely been superseded by these technologies.)
