Practical Extraction and Report Language
The programming language of choice for writing Web server applications, PERL is used for creating interactive forms and a slew of other CGI programs. Larry Wall originally created PERL and continues to develop it, along with a large, loosely organized group of volunteer programmers. PERL scripts, as the applications are called, are available free of charge.
