CNET GLOSSARY: Terms for the techie
A general term used to describe networking technologies in which each computer on a network can act as both client and server. It is most frequently used to refer to file-sharing networks that let computer users open their hard drives to one another, searching for and swapping files without having to go through a Web database or a server.
